To creating a virtual environment inside window we have to download a platform from the internet. There are many free platforms available on the net. Out of such platforms oracle virtual box is one of the best. The important thing about virtual environment is that we can test any software or program on operating system installed on virtual hard disk and it is very important for software engineers, bloggers and other persons from computer world. After downloading the file double click the setup. Oracle VM Virtual Box installation window will pop up. Click “Next” three times and then click “Yes”. Installation window will appear. Click “Install” button.
Installation of virtual box will start in a moment. Virtual box installation setup will ask for “Oracle Corporation Universal Serial Bus” installation USB driver. So click the “Install” button.
It will ask for “Oracle Corporation Network Service” installation option so go to click the “Install” button.
It will ask for “Oracle Corporation Network Adapter” installation option so go to click the “Install” button.
Final installation will complete in few seconds.
At last click the “Finish” button.
Now complete installation has completed. “Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager” window will pop up.
Click the “New” button to make a virtual hard disk partition inside the windows operating system.
“Create New Virtual Machine” window will pop up. Click “Next” button.
Enter a name for virtual drive. My virtual drive name is “Virtual_Test_Drive” . Select operating system and version from the drop down menu and click “Next”.
RAM memory selection window will pop up. Select the memory size as you want. I am using recommended value as 512MB. Click “Next” button.
Click “Next” button with “Create new hard disk” option selected.
Select “VHD (Virtual Hard Disk)” option from file type and click “Next” button.
Virtual disk storage details window will popup. In this window two option available. “Dynamically allocated” and “Fixed size”. I am going to use “Fixed size”. Click “Next”.
In the next window fill the size of virtual hard disk. I am going to create a 20GB VHD. Click “Next”.
Summary window will pop up. Click “Create” button to create the virtual hard disk.
It will start creating the VHD and completed in few minutes.
Finally the VHD will be created with specified configuration and can be seen in the next pop up window Fig.17
Now you can install any windows or Linux version on the VHD and system will work fine.
